Lureto – “Pew Pew”

Lureto is a new Charleston-based instrumental project made up of Doom Flamingo’s Ross Bogan along with Ben Mossman of Little Bird and Wallace Mullinax of The Reckoning. The musicians have collaborated in many bands over the years, and came up with the concept of Lureto during the pandemic. For two weeks they got together and wrote an entire album’s worth of “very chill” music, according to Ross, and afterwards they decided to completely dive into the project. They booked some studio time with Matt Zutell at Coast Records to record the debut single, “Pew Pew”, one of the songs written during the two weeks of writing, and today it enters the world.

“Pew Pew” is seven minutes of exploratory instrumental jamming that draws out the meditative and free-flowing approach that the band took to songwriting. It’s the kind of music that you can zone out and think to, rolling and gentle in style but with enough changes and embellishments to keep things interesting. Lureto has joined the roster at upstate NY’s Royal Potato Family and has plans to release several more singles as well as an EP later this year.

Lureto will make their live debut tomorrow night, Saturday, June 5th on the main stage at the Charleston Pour House, where they’ll be joined by fellow Royal Potato artist Seth Walker. Advance tickets are $15 and available here.
