Last week, Pierce Alexander released a new single, “Make It Up To You.” The song is paired with a campy music video that follows a couple experiencing the trials of a tumultuous relationship in and around various Charleston spots like Bangkok Lounge and The Royal American.
“Make It Up To You” is a dulcet indie-pop ballad, and the decision on part of director Dylan Dawkins (aka Persona La Ave) and Jenna Desmond (of Babe Club, who handled lighting) to shoot the video in mostly dim, smoke-tinged light seems a fitting choice.
The acting by Aurora Star and William Cross Van Horn is intentionally melodramatic, highlighting the theatrical highs and lows of romance. Towards the end of the track, the song breaks out into a bigger, full-band sound that serves as a satisfying climax.
“Make It Up To You” is the first single off Alexander’s upcoming album, The Minutehand, which is set to drop on February 11.
