Babe Club – “That Feeling” (Video)

Babe Club dropped a new single, “That Feeling,” this week, along with a music video. The track is the first release from the group since the whimsy Remix version of their track “Need a Girl” earlier this year.

“That Feeling” is the pandemic brainchild of singer Jenna Desmond, recounting the anguish of the monotony and uncertainty we all felt, and in some ways, continue to feel, in the Covid-conscious world.

The track begins with some low-key piano notes and a beat that remains steady throughout the song’s entirety. The pace isn’t slow, but it isn’t fast either, reflecting that listless waiting of the shut-down era. Some scratchy electronic flourishes towards the end of “That Feeling” further the sense of ennui. “Am I ever gonna feel again? Shake the magic 8 ball / try again later,” Desmond sings.

The video, which was directed by Desmond and Meg Ha, is visually on-point with a Halloween weekend release date. It’s quirky and a little spooky, featuring Desmond with long black nails alternating between sulking around in an eerie blue pool, lying on the grass blindfolded, and singing to the camera in a retro headscarf. 8-ball motifs abound.
