Stop Light Observations – “13bullets (pt. 1)”

Stop Light Observations have just released their newest single, “13bullets (pt. 1)”. According to the band’s post on Instagram that announced the single release a few weeks back, this is a song that SLO wrote together years ago, when they were just 19 years old. They said that fans who remember the song from those days always begged for them to bring it back, and so they’ve decided to release it for us now.

“13bullets (pt. 1)” is a dystopian reflection on American society, the kind that Stop Light Observations does best, recorded in their recent more experimental production style. You can hear that on their two previous singles, “2young” and “how do u feel?”.

“This song is not a judgment, but an observation of the cost of our freedom. The recognition of the pain, suffering, and injustice that has taken place for the freedoms we so often take for granted,” Stop Light says on Instagram,
“The inequalities that still exist, and the origin of their existence. And lastly the question of, are we really even free? America is stressed out. We are divided. We are anxious. We are material driven. We are at war. We are at war with oursevles. This song is a councious look into where we have been, and where we are going; in the hopes that we can heal these wounds and correct our course.”
