Leone – “Love Avenue”

Funk-meets-R&B artist Leone dropped a new single, “Love Avenue,” on Friday. It’s his first release since the 2022 EP Private Life and will be a welcome addition to your late summer playlists. 

Continuing a theme we noticed in Private Life, “Love Avenue” features an abundance of synth sounds, creating a rich, dynamic backdrop that Leone pairs with smooth vocals, each line landing with his signature slyness. 

“Love Avenue” winks at the sound of the 80s. It plays with the textured, electric production choices and pop-influenced R&B vocals that were characteristic of the time, but maintains a brightness that feels distinctly “now.”

The song has a sort of moonlit, lovestruck quality. Leone sings of making his way back to a lover: “Sure as the sun follows the moon / I’ll find my way right back to you.” 

He compares his love to an addiction, to an unbreakable habit, and the lavish soundscape of the track is fitting for such dramatic sentiments.
