Shawn Scrilla Releases Call Me Scroll (Reloaded) Mixtape

Earlier this year, Rock Hill rapper Shawn Scrilla released a mixtape titled Call Me Scroll. Today Scrilla releases an expanded edition of Call Me Scroll, called Call Me Scroll (Reloaded) which features an additional seven tracks and has Scrilla spitting over a variety of different beats, mostly slow, melodic ones accented with piano and synth.

Shawn Scrilla is yet another South Carolina rapper that has found a home with the talented producers Jetsonmade & Neeko Baby, who have been notoriously working with 18Veno and others all year long. Jetson is king of these melodic beats that juxtapose a deep, booming bass with a catchy, melodic element in the upper part of the mix. It makes for an inherently catchy song given the rapper can mesh their voice somewhere in between. Jetsonmade is not the only producer on the album, but he did leave his mark on a number of tracks, which is always a good thing in my eyes. Also of note is Shawn Scrill’as take on 2Pac’s “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” with “Ambitions As A Slimer”.

Scrilla started gathering attention off in 2018 when he first landed a Gunna feature on the track “On Fye”, and then got himself on a track with Da Baby, the Jetsonmade-produced “Sing”. Since then he has been hitting it hard and today is one of the most well-respected rappers in South Carolina.
