Leone & The Ascension – Live At The Addition (Full Performance)

Earlier this month, Leone & The Ascension stopped by for a live stream with Columbia’s digital house show, At The Addition. The full session is up on Youtube and it’s one more reason to get excited for them to make their Royal American debut on Saturday, March 18th.

In this set, Leone and the band rip a thirty minute set featuring all originals from both of his EPs, Private Life (2022) and Angst (2019), plus an unreleased song called “BS”, which he explains is the first single they recorded with the full band.

The Ascension lays down an incredible funky groove, while Leone works his captivating presence at the front. If you were at Extra Chill Fest you know that all this band needs is an audience and they’re off to the races. They’re going places — you heard it here first.

At The Addition also deserves a mention here, as they’re doing a cool thing with these live sessions. They’re a non-profit that brings in bands from all over the Southeast for KEXP-style live sessions that also feature interview segments, all live-streamed and made available for streaming afterwards.

These are the kinds of things that South Carolina needs to bring real growth to the music industry here. Opportunities for artists to showcase their talent, with professional quality.
