Stop Light Observations – “10 man”

Stop Light Observations released a new single, “10 man”, this week. It’s the band’s second release of the year, following “8teen”, which dropped in April. “10 man” is an atmospheric track that further exemplifies Stop Light’s turn to a more pop-rock sound.

The single begins with a bright and airy guitar. Singer Will Blackburn’s melodic crooning quickly establishes the direction of the tune, his sweeping vocals ranging from breezy one moment to boppy the next. Threaded into the soundscape is an electronic beat that lends a dynamic, layered quality to the dulcet track.

Lyrically, “10 man” conveys a nostalgic longing for a fleeting summer romance. Blackburn recounts time spent with a woman in a rain-soaked sundress, singing of wanting to “taste that first kiss all over again,” and lamenting “I wish I had your heart again.”

The fusion of compelling beats/vocals and engaging, story-like lyrics makes this song one you want to play over and over.
