Stop Light Observations – “8teen”

This morning, Stop Light Observations release a new single called “8teen”, their first new music release since 2020’s acclaimed EP oRANGE. Over the past few years, Stop Light Observations have been transitioning away from their original alternative rock sound towards a more experimental pop-rock sound with a creative edge to it. “8teen” is a bouncy tune carried along by the vocal melody crafted by frontman Will Blackburn, and decorated with minimalistic, thoughtful electronic arrangement. There’s enough meat on the bones here to keep things interesting without bombarding us with a wall of sound, and it gives us a nice view into what SLO has been working on in recent months, and a taste of what’s to come.
