Earlier this week, Charleston rapper CrucialBGR released a new track and video called “No Words For The Chorus”, marking his first new release since the full-length album BIGBAD3! was released earlier this year. The album was well-received locally and has placed Crucial on the radar of many local hip-hop fans, and has even earned him a nomination for the Charleston City Paper Music Award for Best Local Hip-Hop Artist.
“No Words For The Chorus” is a two minute freestyle that serves to show us that BIGBAD3! is far from the end of the CrucialBGR gravy train. This one is nothing fancy, just straight bars delivered through a retro style music video shot by Ephraim Adams. But Crucial doesn’t need anything fancy to put his wordplay on display, though, and he effortlessly dances around the beat. The final verse is the one that really does it, as he transitions into a whispered tone of voice and impressively still maintains that even flow.
