Mantra – “Living”

Charleston indie rockers Mantra dropped a new single on Friday called “Living”, and celebrated with a performance at The Royal American alongside Crumbsnatchers and Similar Kind. This is the first new release of the year from the up-and-coming local band, whom we like both for the easygoing, layered vibe of their music and for their attitude of not taking themselves too seriously.

“Living” draws upon the idea of taking things one day at a time, both the good things and the bad, and accepting that it’s all just part of living. Many of us know this is easier said than done, but it’s certainly a formidable Mantra.

A special shoutout is due to Mantra’s keyboardist Noah James for being the mastermind behind Stuart’s House, the North Charleston house show venue that is helping to keep DIY music alive in Charleston. As we saw at this past weekend’s show, Noah does an excellent job putting things together there and we are fortunate to have a DIY venue as well-run as Stuart’s House.
