Keon Masters – “Yesterday Was Going Great”

Keon Masters dropped a new single, “Yesterday Was Going Great,” this week, his first release since his 2019 debut solo album Many Thanks. The track features former Brave Baby bandmate Christian Chidester on guitar, Benjamin Homola of Grouplove on the drums, Aaron Utterback from Human Resources on guitar and bass, and Masters on guitar, synth, and of course, vocals. It was recorded in Atlanta at Big Trouble recording studio.

“Yesterday Was Going Great” is a laid-back banger that will bring to mind some of the best tracks on Many Thanks. The lyrics describe a romantic encounter that only went well in the mind of the guy. The girl, on the other hand, found him insufferable: “She says I’m rude, crude, all around juvenile, loud and brash, sarcastic and crass,” Masters sings. He doesn’t give up, though, asking for a second chance. “Maybe oh just maybe you consider us friends,” he repeats throughout the track, a request made sympathetic by Master’s smooth vocals.

Don’t forget that you’ll be able to catch Masters live when Brave Baby reunites to play on New Years Eve at Lofi Brewing. Tickets are available here.
