On Saturday, February 29th, Extra Chill will host its first event in Charleston since Extra Chill Fest 2019 at The Royal American back in November. The Extra Chill Leap Year Jamboree will take place on leap day 2020, which also happens to be a Saturday, and features a live music lineup of Nordista Freeze, Easy Honey, and
Fleur Geurl Rex Darling at none other than The Royal American.
Headliner Nordista Freeze comes from Nashville, and 2019 brought three appearances of Freeze and his larger-than-life personality to Charleston. First it was a sweaty house show in early summer, and then it was the unforgettable weekend-closing performance at Everybody’s Got Nipples, and finally a month later, in mid-September at The Royal American. Those performances have caused the name Nordista Freeze to have quite the buzz around the Charleston music scene, and we’re very excited to bring them back for the “First Time” in 2020.
Easy Honey are your Charleston representatives for the evening. 2019 was a growth spurt year for the band, and they found themselves on bills ranging from the Youngster / Argot release show at Royal in March, to a slot at the Charleston Pour House’s inaugural Into The Woods Festival in October. February 29th will be Easy Honey’s first hometown show of the year, and with the well-received new single “Like Glue” (and maybe more), we think its about time for their return to the Royal American.
Fleur Geurl is the new project of Danielle McConaghy, whom you might recognize from Tom Angst. After Tom Angst broke up, Danielle moved from Greenville to Asheville and continued to write and perform. She just made her Charleston debut as Fleur Geurl on Friday night at The Royal American for SUSTO’s Rogue Acoustic live album recording, and she’ll be back in a few weeks to celebrate the leap year with Extra Chill.
Update: Fleur Geurl had to cancel, and so Rex Darling from Columbia will perform in her place.
Tickets to the Extra Chill Leap Year Jamboree are $10 at the door. Party starts at 9pm. 21+.
