This morning, Brave Baby frontman Keon Masters released a new single called “Nobody Else”, his first release of the year following “Yesterday Was Going Great” which dropped back in December. The track is paired with a music video shot at Lofi Brewing by Persona La Ave, which is premiering exclusively this morning right here on Extra Chill.
“Nobody Else” was recorded in the Spring of 2020 at Big Trouble Recording in Atlanta, located in the Little Five Points neighborhood, tucked away behind the iconic Criminal Records. The track was produced by Dan Gleason of Grouplove, with engineer TJ Elias (Manchester Orchestra’s FOH sound tech) behind the boards. Grouplove drummer Benjamin Homola also played drums on the track, with Aaron Utterback on bass.
“We all had an instant bond, and felt like we’d known each other for a long time,” Keon recalls. “Was hoping to put a lot of these tracks out in 2020, but covid, life, family all kind of took the front seat. Now seems as good as a time as ever, and I’m excited about them again.”
The upbeat, dance-ready “Nobody Else” is part of a larger project recorded during those sessions, a little record called No Problem, which will be a follow-up to Keon’s 2019 solo debut Many Thanks.
“‘Nobody Else’ is about betting on yourself when you’re down on options,” Keon says. “Even though we’re often surrounded by support, sometimes it feels as if you’re out on a limb solo, doing your best not to slip.”
