Eclectic Change Benefit Compilation Features New Music from Niecy Blues, Contour, & More

Today, the Boston-based collective SLDG Music releases the new Eclectic Change compilation on Bandcamp. The compilation was created as a dual benefit for Trans Trenderz and National Bail Out, and it features previously unreleased music, covers, and demos from 32 different artists, including Charleston’s Niecy Blues and Contour. The compilation is available for $12 and all revenue will benefit the aforementioned entities. Get it here.

Contour’s contribution is called “thedusktakeshold”. It’s a minimalist tune led by a drums and decorated with piano, and of course Khari’s signature meandering bass is there to get your head nodding along with the beat.

The Niecy Blues contribution, “Bones Become The Trees” is nothing short of fantastic. Niecy’s creative output refuses to be nailed down at this point. She’s gone from releasing experimental R&B tunes like “Ways”, to ambient, emotive and deeply personal songs with the CRY EP, and now we’ve got a lo-fi bedroom pop song in “Bones Become The Trees”. Niecy’s vocals are a real treat here, uplifting and filled with life, and yet simultaneously mellow and enchanting. The lyrics, meanwhile are rather poetic and filled with anguish (Niecy shared them on Instagram). The track was produced by Contour, and you can hear his influence in the dark ambience.

Among other noteworthy names on the compilation is Boston songwriter Anjimile, who contributed a demo called “Burden”. Anjimile released a very nice album earlier this year called Giver Taker and also recently put out a cover of Samia’s “Waverly” for The Baby Reimagined.
