Doom Flamingo – “Somebody”

Doom Flamingo, the Charleston-based synthwave band started by Ryan Stasik of Umphrey’s McGee, released a new single on Friday called “Somebody”. The single was mixed by Matt Zutell of Human Resources and Coast Records, and it was released along with a lyric video created by Dylan Dawkins of Persona La Ave.

“Somebody” is a groovy, light track that serves to highlight the two-headed beast that is Doom Flamingo. On one hand, they’re dark and trippy, and on the other hand they’re light and dancey. “Somebody” falls on the dancey side, and it sounds like a late night whirl down the hallway toward a candlelit bedroom, wearing nothing but a silky nightgown.

Doom Flamingo will show both their Doom and Flamingo sides over the course of a two-night run at the Charleston Pour House on March 27th and 28th. Night one is billed as DOOM, and I imagine it will be geared toward the darker side, and night two is billed as FLAMINGO, and that will probably be one big, happy, dance party. Tickets and more info on the Pour House website here.
