Premiere: Motel Glory “Frame By Frame”

South Carolina rock ‘n’ roll band Motel Glory have been a staple in the Rock Hill music scene for the past ten years, and it’s about damn time their sound starts to break out of the small town confines of Rock Hill. They are one of the longest-running bands in the entire state, and they’re gearing up to release their third full-length album, Let ’em Live, via Charleston label Real South Records on September 20th. This morning, we’re happy to debut “Frame By Frame”, the second single off Let ’em Live. The record is available for digital and physical pre-order at motelglory.com.

As a band, Motel Glory has made itself somewhat of a household name in Rock Hill, but that isn’t the only reason they’re important in the South Carolina music landscape. The band consists of songwriter and guitarist Greg Ellis, guitarist Josiah Blevins, bassist Mike Gentry, and drummer Stan Gibson, all of whom contribute greatly to the music scene in Rock Hill, which is becoming one of South Carolina’s most precious hubs for music and the arts.

Mike is brains behind iconic South Carolina DIY venue The Courtroom, which is Rock Hill’s only true music venue. He books all the shows that happen there as well as two annual festivals: Don’t Sweat It Fest and Dumb Sweater Fest. Josiah is a key member of WAMA (We Also Make Art), an artist’s collective based in Rock Hill that publishes zines and does great work to promote and grow the city’s vibrant arts community. He also plays in the popular Rock Hill band, GASP.

Motel Glory’s “Frame By Frame” hits with a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek attitude that clearly draws influence from punk rock, yet isn’t quite as up-tempo or irreverent as much of what you’d refer to as punk. It’s a song that you could throw on at a party filled with punks, indie kids, pop enthusiasts, and even some scarcely-existent ska fans, and you’d probably catch most everyone bobbing along to the beat.

Listen below, and stay tuned for Let ’em Live dropping September 20th. If you dig this, also check out the live session from Scene SC featuring “Top Bill” the lead single off the album here.
