SUSTO Announces Homecoming with Return to Royal American Parking Lot

On Saturday, October 21st, SUSTO will return to Charleston with a show in the Royal American parking lot. This will be their first show back in Charleston since selling out the Music Farm back in February. The band has spent the majority of 2017 touring their successful sophomore album & I’m Fine Today with over 95 shows all over the country, and even some in Canada. This show announcement comes with another major tour announcement that will take them through the end of 2017.

SUSTO has played in the Royal American parking lot once before, at the 2016 Summer Shindig, where they were joined by some of South Carolina’s best artists including Brave Baby, ET Anderson, The High Divers, and more. Back then Johnny Delaware was still in the band, and they were still running off 2014’s self-titled debut album. Now they’ve got Dries Vandenberg from Human Resources on lead guitar and a huge tour under their belts, and I’m sure they’re just as stoked as I am for this one. Joining them at the Royal American on October 21st will be Esmé Patterson from Denver, and fellow Charlestonian Matt Monday. Esmé Patterson will also join SUSTO on the rest of their 2017 tour.

This is also a pretty monumental occasion for the Charleston music scene, because it suggests that a giant stage in the Royal American parking lot isn’t just for the Summer Shindig, and brings it to the table the as a potential venue for bigger artists coming through Charleston. There isn’t really a spot for artists to play that are too big for the Music Farm, yet not quite big enough to justify playing at the North Charleston Coliseum or Volvo Car Stadium. The Royal parking lot isn’t much bigger than the Music Farm, but its certainly comparable in size. I think if these parking lot shows become a more regular thing for the Royal American it can open up a lot of doors for us to see more touring bands make stops in our city.

Tickets to SUSTO’s October 21st show at The Royal American are $18 and available here. There is also a $48 Premium Merch Bundle that includes a limited edition specialty show poster & limited edition colored vinyl copy of & I’m Fine Today.
