Runaway Gin 10th Anniversary Weekend at Charleston Pour House (Photos + Recap)

All photos by Everett Zuraw (@thatezguy).

Runaway Gin’s 10th Anniversary Weekend at the Charleston Pour House was a blast! The celebration took place over two nights, January 12th and 13th, 2023, and featured many special guests and occasions to commemorate the group’s achievement. We partnered with Runaway Gin for the promotion of these shows.

The week leading up to the show also came with the revelation that Oleg Terentiev of Little Bird, who performed in opening sets on the deck both nights, is both the inventor of Gel-O and the Grandfather of Andy Greenberg, frontman and brain behind Runaway Gin. He arrived in Charleston via time machine to showcase his talents for us all. Thank you, Oleg.

On this page, we’ve got setlists from both nights, and photos from Night One for both the deck and the main stage. We will come back and add videos from the weekend to this page as they are released, as we’ve got word that the full shows are in the pipeline.

I also did what I believe is a great interview with Andy Greenberg in advance of the shows, which is linked here.

Friday, January 12th

On the deck prior to Runaway Gin, we had A Tribute to J.J. Cale featuring Jim Rubush, Ben Mossman, Campbell Brown, Noah Jones, Oleg Terentiev, and Jonathan Peace. Plus Kanika Moore on the “Cocaine” finale. It was awesome.

Then, Runaway Gin took the main stage with support from past members, Bobby Hogg and John Pope subbing in for portions of the show. Great night all around.

Photo gallery below, Gin setlist below that.

On the deck before Runaway Gin was the funky, improvisational tribute to Stevie Wonder & Donny Hathaway, featuring Jeff Caldwell, Noah Jones, Ben Mossman, and Oleg Terentiev. They were also joined for Kanika Moore in the latter part of the show, including an amazing performance of “You Haven’t Done Nothin'” to shut it down. Holy sh*t.

Then, we had Runaway Gin come out for a big second night, featuring Mike Quinn of Runaway Gin with a three-piece horn section for the entire show (“The Low Country Horns”), plus former members Sean Bing back for one night only. Plus, John Shields and Kevin Shields of Little Stranger sitting in for “Twist.” They mixed in some non-Phish covers this night too, including an encore performance of “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” with Sean Bing on lead vocals.

No photo gallery for this night but as I said the vids are in the pipeline.
