DJ DollaMenu – “3 Shots” (Video)

DJ DollaMenu released a new single, “3 Shots,” on Friday, paired with a music video shot by photographer and videographer Rojas. 

The “3 Shots” video follows DollaMenu as he hits up a thrift store, then raps and strolls around downtown. While the track’s opening line, “3 shots off the liquor no chaser,” might lead you to believe it’s all fun and games, the lyrics skew introspective at times, exploring personal drive and stereotypes with a certain seriousness.

“I get everything I want / It’s only doubt that I lack,” he raps at one point, after reminiscing on how far he’s come. “It’s not likely I reflect what you stereotype me” is another poignant line, repeated twice, allowing the listener to reflect on their own biases and labeling tendencies. 

DollaMenu’s characteristic humor shines in quips like “I keep a bad thing on my hip like a pager.” The energy is steady from start to finish, and the video closes with DollaMenu on a roof, rendered a human blur through trippy visual effects.
