The idea for a Human Resources and Little Stranger collaboration started marinating when they played a show together last July. Then, in January, the Human Stranger Instagram popped up with a photo of the newly-formed collaborative band. That same week, I stopped through Coast Records Studio for an interview with Human Resources, and when the cameras stopped rolling they showed me an early demo of “Later Love”.
At the time, the song was almost 100% completed, and they just needed Kevin Shields to come lay down a verse. Later that night, following some shenanigans surrounding the celebration of Zutell’s birthday, the “Later Love” demo was played at a party. The Little Stranger boys were there and Kevin spit a freestyle during his placeholder in the song. Sometime between now and then, the song was completed, and on 4/20 it was uploaded to Spotify.
“Later Love” is also slated to appear on the upcoming 2018 Scene SC Sampler. Furthermore, Human Resources will release their new album Champagne this summer (announced by Charleston Magazine), and there’s a new single from that album rumored to be arriving soon.
