An attendee says a rushed checkout during Burning Man prep turned a modest carbon-offset pledge into a major donation: roughly 9,111 trees planted after a roughly $24,000 charge that landed an ~8,000-tree project in Mexico on top of an earlier Madagascar donation.
The festivalgoer reports they originally bought 1,111 trees for Madagascar to cover plane travel and company emissions, thenâafter a chaotic drive and a difficult burnâclicked through a tree-planting site and wound up with a much larger Mexico project they couldnât reverse. Attempts to move the new trees back to Madagascar were too late, but the tree partner confirmed planting in Mexico and increased the total number tied to the account.
