On January 17th, Charleston’s Colors in Corduroy and Channel Bluff hosted a social night of live music at LoFi Brewing, accompanied by The Band Solstice, a Knoxville group whose first time in Charleston was for the show.

Channel Bluff set the tone of the night, starting the show with a cover of “Where’d All the Time Go?” by Dr. Dog before introducing the audience to their original tunes, including “Self-Defense”, their latest release that you can listen to on all streaming platforms. Halfway through the set, Evan (Guitarist/Lead Vox) and Harrison (Bassist) switched instruments and continued to swoon the audience with their melancholic harmonies, before ending their set with an atmospheric half-time melody.

Up next we had The Band Solstice, a new face in Charleston who were stopping through on their tour around the Southeast. They started their set with “Here Comes the Cowgirl”, a song they told the crowd they had written a few weeks ago. They continued with a cover of “Yellow” by Coldplay, which the audience sang right back at them.

Marty (Guitar/Vox) and Grayson (Drums) once again switched instruments and played “Old Friends” by Pinegrove, catching the audience off guard and getting everyone in their feels—before getting the energy back up with a cover of “Beastly” by Vulpeck, mesmerizing the audience with a 4-minute long instrumental showcasing the incredible skills of Maddox (Bass) and Jacob (Keys). They finished the set with a few more surf rock originals, including the first song they wrote.

Make sure to check out their website and Spotify, and keep an eye out for some “big things coming soon” from the Solstice boys.

Lastly, Colors in Corduroy took the stage, immediately capturing the attention of everyone with the first bar of their set, enthralling them with their heavy guitar solos and bass riffs—even Grant (Vox) playing rock, paper, scissors, with two people in the front row.

They continued the set with “Old Soul”, their first release on streaming platforms, with Grant entertaining the crowd and Sam adding powerful vocals alongside. They ended their set with “Xenith”, a fan favorite, and their latest release—leaving the crowd cheering for an encore.
