Cry Baby guitarist Carter Long has just released a new tune with their solo project, Kid Lake. “Now I Can’t Remember” is a solemn lo-fi tune that tells me they really liked the Christian Lee Hutson album Beginners, and by extension everything that Phoebe Bridgers has ever made. It’s always cool to hear this Kid Lake stuff because it’s vastly different from anything that Carter plays or creates with Cry Baby. When he’s not playing party tunes with them, they’re exploring their emotional side and writing sad songs about existential dread. I’ll take it.
