On Saturday, November 22nd, Charleston’s Building 64 comes alive for Kulture Klash 10, a fully-immersive arts festival that combines visual art, music, lighting design, food, and drinks into an unforgettable experience.

In addition to musical headliners Z-Trip & DMC of Run DMC, renowned visual artist Shepard Fairey joins the event, alongside a local-heavy lineup packed with 100+ visual artists and 20+ musical acts.

Kulture Klash organized by many of the people behind Skinful Halloween, the wild Halloween party at the same venue just a few weeks ago, so you know it’s going to be an artistic celebration of epic proportions.

Kulture Klash: Founded in 2007

The first-ever Kulture Klash took place in 2007. It started small, as a collaboration between a handful of local artists, including Gustavo Serrano, Olivia Pool, and Scott Debus.

“They had events at Storehouse 10, also at the Navy Yard, before Urban Electric took over that building,” recalls Jon. “It was a mixed-use space. They put art up in the building and had a stage outside with some DJs.”

Over the years, Kulture Klash rotated venues in Charleston as both the city and the festival grew. They took a few years off here and there, with the longest break coming after Kulture Klash 8, at the Memminger Auditoreum (now Festival Hall) in 2015. The festival returned in the post-COVID world with Kulture Klash 9 in 2024, which also happened to be the first-ever event at Building 64.

Now in its 10th year, Kulture Klash has a home in this 80,000 square foot warehouse space at the Old Navy Yard. The building allows them to explore their core ethos: to use the venue as a canvas, transforming it into an expressive and immersive festival venue.

The venue has undergone some big infrastructure improvements over the past year, allowing them to bring in a bigger stage, better lighting, better sound. Every aspect of Kulture Klash from the production side gets an upgrade in 2025.

“After every show, they just bring it up another notch,” says Jon. “The way Kulture Klash is set up, there’s multiple stages in multiple areas, so people can actually make their own event and experience.”

This includes the outdoor stage, with a variety of locals like Florida Man, Girls Gone Down Bad, MoonKatDaddi, and more will perform. There is also a DJ room with crazy projections and activations, where different DJs will keep the party going all night long. Out on a Limb will also be there performing a fire-breathing circus.

The entire building is also filled with visual art installations from a ton of different artists, including a huge installation from Shepard Fairey who will also have special prints for sale. Better yet, all of the art from all artists is for sale, allowing festival-goers to take home a piece of Kulture Klash, and support the artists directly.

“Skinful was is more music-based, this is more art-based with music, so it’s different. There’s gonna be a lot of huge paintings in the building, a lot of installations, murals, and more.”

Kulture Klash 10 promises to be a one-of-a-kind event that brings local flavor alongside bigger names like DMC and Z-Trip, making it the single best party in Charleston on Saturday, November 22nd. Get your tickets here.
