Easy Honey Releases New EP, Ooooo

One week following their June 30 headlining show at the Windjammer, Charleston indie rockers Easy Honey have released their newest EP, Ooooo. The EP contains 5 tracks, including the recent hit “Orbiter” which was featured in our recent interview with the band, where assistant editor Kate joined them on a boat in Shem Creek.

This new Easy Honey is surfer emo from four of the biggest bros in Charleston. While there is a subtle melancholy present in the music, you get the feeling that they don’t really care that much, because they’re having fun regardless.

Recent single “Alright, Alright” does this especially well. It casts an easy groove that makes you want to sway from side to side, while the lyrics chronicle an explosive relationship. The effect is a sense of numbness to it all, that also happens to be very catchy.

The Ooooo EP was appropriately released while Easy Honey are on their “Surf Tour”, which includes beach cleanups in the coastal towns where they’re playing shows. This is a band that is working hard, putting out a ton of high quality, consistent content, and it is paying off in the size of their shows.

As you can see, I like a lot of things that Easy Honey are doing. What I don’t like is the title of this EP. I think they could have spent another five minutes thinking about it and come up with something better. Maybe I’m just not cOooool enough to understand.
