Wolf Mask – “Caligula”

Wolf Mask, the latest project from Ross Bogan (Doom Flamingo, Lureto), put out a new track, “Caligula,” on Friday. It follows “dreaming // falling” and continues with a similar dark, synth-heavy sound.

“Caligula” feels murky and enchanting, 80’s action movie mystique meeting psychedelic haze. “I gotta run for cover,” Bogan sings.

Pointed synths, sharp drums, and plenty of reverb drive “Caligula,” and vocal harmonies courtesy of backing vocalist Eliza Novella add depth as the two sing “Why you gotta haunt me / Didn’t even want me.”

The track is as danceable as it is disturbing, exemplifying what we love about Wolf Mask as a project: the songs remind us of the dual nature of humanity, the inescapable intermingling of the light and the dark.
