Indi’Gxld – “On Me”

Extra Chill’s very own Indi’Gxld just released a new single called “On Me”, produced by DJ HTBX. The track comes as part of a busy year for the artist thus far, from performing around town on a weekly basis to constantly producing new content, all while keeping up with #GxldApproved artists on this blog.

“On Me” puts on display the mindset that seems to drive Indi’Gxld, which is that of taking responsibility for your own life and making the best of it. The basis for the song is about how some may place responsibility on God, or other people, but he puts it on himself.

The song builds with Gxld spitting rhymes about being unique and chosen, and reaches a peak in the final verse. His tone grows more intense and animated throughout and the tension breaks with a few observations about the state of the world, with people having drug addictions everywhere, shooting each other, and specifically black children being killed.

“On Me” comes in advance of Indi’Gxld’s upcoming performance this Saturday, April 22nd as part of the new project, Rhodium, which he started with fellow Charleston artist Black Zola. The group plays entirely original material, so you won’t hear on me, but you will get to hear from the mind of Indi’Gxld.
