Cultura Festival Featured Artist: Tyrie

The countdown begins for the final few weeks before Curren$y and The Cultura Festival touch down in Charleston, SC. Next up on this epic line up of featured artists is Charleston City Paper’s ‘Rapper of the Year’, Tyrie. You may have recently caught Tyrie blazing the stage at Music Farm with FatRatDaCzar and if you did, you know ‘big stage Tyrie’ is next level.

Producer, engineer, visionary and artist, Tyrie, has been OUTSIDE since the release of his album Season 3 in Summer 2022. On top of consistently keeping our ears fed with his unpredictable, dynamic music production, he’s been putting in major work in the live performance scene across the city at a more frequent level than we are use to and it’s been a real treat.

4 Flights, Tyrie’s most recent album, is a great example of Tyrie’s progressive sound and high level production. His music soundscape is a cross between ’09 Kanye and Travis Scott, and he plays with the lines between electronic trap, hardcore rap, and experimental world music. The growth since his 2017 debut Channel 95 has been stellar, but listening to his catalog, you can see that Tyrie has always presented us with a mixed bag of funk, in a way only he can.
