Hotel Hugo – “Redwood”

Hotel Hugo, the brainchild of local musician Garrett Williams, released a new single, “Redwood,” on Friday. The track was the first song Williams wrote for the project after taking a short break from songwriting.

“Redwood” has a laid-back, idyllic feel. It’s driven by steady drums and plucky bass, and melodic guitar adds depth.

The lyrics are laden with imagery, and scenes of nature abound in lines like “Ocean every shade of blue / Mountains I won’t take for granted,” and “Falling in love under the redwood branches.”

As is fitting for the romantic nature of the track, Williams’s wife, Audrey, provides some vocals in “Redwood.” Her harmonies lend a dynamic quality to the sound.
