Marcus King Releases New Album Young Blood

Marcus King released his highly-anticipated new album, Young Blood, on Friday. It’s 42 minutes of pure, unadulterated blues rock, produced by Dan Auerbach.

Young Blood features four songs that were released as singles earlier this year: “Blues Worse Than I Ever Had,” “Blood on the Tracks,” “Lie Lie Lie,” “Rescue Me,” and “Hard Working Man.” The remaining seven tracks are brand new.

Smoky, gritty guitar riffs abound on Young Blood. Aside from the closing track, “Blues Worse Than I Ever Had,” which slows to a more soulful speed, each song jangles by at a rapid, rowdy pace.

Much of the album calls to mind 70s era classic blues rock, with a sound that feels appealingly familiar. King’s vocals are a standout on the project, soaring along with his guitar.
