Umphrey’s McGee Releases New Album Asking For a Friend

Umprey’s McGee released a new album, Asking For a Friend, on July 1st. The 14-song project shows the band executing their signature ecclectic jam-rock style with clean, precise instrumentation.

While none of the tracks on the album have been played live, some will be familiar: Asking For a Friend features  “I Don’t Know What I Want,” a single from earlier this year, as well as the four songs on their New Wings EP, also released this year.

The album was recorded during the covid shutdown. In a press release issued by the band, vocalist and guitarist Brendan Bayliss described the feeling of creating Asking For a Friend as “tapping into the idea that we were all isolated yet somehow still connected and experiencing the same emotions.”

Umphrey’s will be on tour throughout the summer and early fall, and you can catch them at a stop in Charleston for the Resonance Music & Arts Festival at Woodlands Nature Reserve September 15th-17th. Stream Asking For a Friend below.
