Tonya Nicole – “You Got Me” ft. Manny Houston

Tonya Nicole released a new single, “You Got Me,” on Friday. It shows the soulful singer teaming up with South Carolina hip-hop artist and multihyphenate Manny Houston. Thomas Kenney of Doom Flamingo and Oukuo helped produce the track.

“You Got Me” is mellow to its core. Nicole’s voice is soft, but she doesn’t shy away from showcasing its depth, taking low notes in with sensual draw. “Sometimes I sit / And I can feel your breath on my neck,” she sings, words matching the manner in which they are sung.

“I got a crush / I got a crush / I’m crushin on you / I’m crushin on you,” she repeats.

Houston comes in to rap, and it’s the pitch perfect compliment to the song, providing an edge against its softness. His voice is crisp and at times almost raspy, grounding the cozy mood with a realness that adds yet another layer of almost-tangible sensuality.

Stream “You Got Me” below and stay tuned for Tonya Nicole’s full EP, which is set to drop March 25.
