Pierce Alexander Releases Debut Album, The Minutehand

Pierce Alexander released his first full-length album, The Minutehand, on Friday.

The debut displays Alexander’s characteristic emotional depth through narrative lyricism and melodic complexity. Two of the tracks, “Be Someone” and “Make It Up To You,” were released earlier this year as singles. The remaining eight songs are brand-new and build upon themes of navigating the perplexing experiences of relationships and growing older.

“All I knew was that it seemed as though everything in my life was changing around me, and this album was there with me through it all. Though there were many times during the last couple of years that I felt hopeless, the songwriting outlet always remained present whether or not I felt on top of the world or anxiety ridden,” Alexander said of the album in a statement on his Instagram.

With The Minutehand, Alexander weaves gentle vocals against a backdrop of carefully crafted sounds, resulting in an atmosphere that is both muted and moving.

The artist celebrated the ten-song project with a release party at Royal American on Saturday night. If you missed it, you can catch him on tour through March — check out the dates here.
