Paisley and the Birdwalkers – “Solar Flare” / “Hide From the Rain”

Columbia-based americana group Paisley and the Birdwalkers dropped two new songs on Bandcamp this Friday, “Solar Flare” and “Hide From the Rain.” The all-female group, fronted by singer and guitarist Paisley Marie, delivers a distinct take on country meets power-pop. Carefully crafted lyrics add a layer of poeticism to these new tracks.

“Solar Flare” projects the pace of a classic country anthem, and utilizes the appropriate motifs: bar stools and tumultuous love affairs. Toward the end of the song is a Taylor Swift-esque speaking moment.

“Hide From the Rain” is a slower, more melancholy track that gives Marie’s voice the spotlight. Throaty and full of depth, it adds anguish to lyrics that are already morose. “They’re wasn’t a damn thing you coulda done to push me away / there’s ain’t a damn thing you could do to make me wanna stay,” Marie sings, exposing the contradictions of a relationship breakdown.

We’re excited to hear more from Paisley and the Birdwalkers. Stream “Solar Flare” and “Hide From the Rain” on Bandcamp below.
