Darby Wilcox and the Peep Show – “Bang You”

Darby Wilcox and the Peep Show released a new single, “Bang You,” on Christmas Eve. It’s the group’s first release since 2018 and has been in the works since 2020, when the pandemic threw a wrench in their recording process. Steven Cathcart, who plays pedal steel in the band, helped with the engineering.

“Bang You” is a sexy song, a categorization that may be evident by the title and that is cemented both lyrically and sonically throughout the track. Wilcox’s voice is smoky, giving us lines like “Because the thought of your skin on mine / wets the walls that I hide deep inside” that leave little to the imagination. Musically, it’s slightly jammy — energetic, but with a sort of nonchalance that keeps things carefree. This is just the kind of attitude we’d like to bring into 2022.
