Naome – “Three Down”

If you’ve been around the South Carolina music scene at all during the past few years there’s a real good chance you’ve crossed paths with Mia Naome, the photographer, or at least seen some of her work. She’s shot several Extra Chill events, some photos for SUSTO, Benny Starr’s A Water Album, to name just a few. Now we’re happy to share the news that Mia has made her debut as a musician with her first song “Three Down” released this week.

“Three Down” is a special release for us here at Extra Chill because we truly love Mia and we’re proud to see her doing the damn thing. It helps a lot that she wrote a beautiful little tune filled with nostalgia and longing that sounds great on repeat in our office. In “Three Down” Mia sings gently about feeling distant and disconnected from a person whom you were once very close with. She really makes you feel it. And we’ve all felt it. I can’t deny my bias here but this is great stuff.

The song was also a team effort that included some other people who have been connected with Mia for quite some time: Carter Long of Cry Baby lent his hand as producer and engineer, and then it was sent over to Andrew Halley (JD Moon, formerly of SondorBlue) for mastering.
