Gods. – “Nightwaves”

After almost a year of social media silence, the relatively new (pre-Covid) South Carolina prog-rock trio Gods. have woken up and released two new tracks off their upcoming debut album. The first one, “Honest”, was released last week, on Thursday, November 12th, and today they released the second single, “Nightwaves”.

I remember seeing this band at the Royal American a few times last summer during some big taco contest that was being put on by some local restaurants. The place was busy but the crowd sucked because nobody was there to see the band. Their loss, I’d say, because the band was the only reason I stuck around for more than one beer, rather than deal with the obnoxious crowd that had taken over the place. Gods. were up there crushing it while Chad, Brad, and Stacy drank margaritas in blissful ignorance.

Anyway, I’m glad to see that Gods. have started putting out music. They’re a unique band in this scene, playing melodic progressive rock without any vocals and absolutely shredding it. “Nightwaves” is on the heavier side but it’s completely chill at the same time, thanks to such interesting interplay and catchy guitar melodies that reel you back in when things start breaking down. With the pace they’ve been putting out singles
