BlackChef – Feed the Kids

South Carolina hip-hop duo BlackChef have just released their debut album, Feed the Kids. The duo was formed earlier this year by Eezy Olah and Airborne Audio with the intention to “stir the pot and give you grooves!”. BlackChef whips up an old school, soulful feel that you can taste with your ears. They accomplish this by using some delicious samples and laid-back rhymes, plus a great name that allows both me and the rappers to enjoy some scrumptious wordplay.

My personal favorite after one spin is “Life Goes On”, which samples “You Can’t Blame Me” by Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr and features a guest verse from Shack Deville. “You Can’t Blame Me” has been sampled several times over the years by artists like Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, and Mobb Deep, and always helps contribute a thoughtful energy. BlackChef enters the ranks with their own Southern-style sampling in “Life Goes On”.
