On Sunday, Winnsboro, SC rapper 18Veno released his debut EP, R4Z. The EP is five tracks long, and there have been music videos released for four of them over the course of the past few months, one of which was even featured on Pitchfork. The EP features five tracks, most of which come in under two minutes, with boomy production accented with catchy, floaty synth and keys while Veno rides over the beats with his youthful energy. He’s only 19 years old and already crushing it like this, there’s only one direction to go from here (and that’s up).
Yesterday 18Veno released the video for “Fuck Rap”, track two off the EP, and perhaps the best example of the production value I mentioned above. This one was produced by 1stClass and Neeko Baby. Shout out to the Instagram page @saucecarolina for putting me on to this any many more great SC hip-hop artists. Highly recommend giving them a follow if you want to keep up with South Carolina hip-hop and more.
