Dylan Swinson – “Love Yourself (You Overcame)”

Charleston pop-punk artist Dylan Swinson has just announced his signing to Real South Records for the release of his new full-length album. With this announcement comes the release of the debut single, “Love Yourself (You Overcame)”. The album, self-titled Dylan Swinson, will see release on March 20th.

The Real South Records connection to Dylan Swinson goes way back to when RSR founder DJ Edwards was a co-star on former local music podcast The Fringe, alongside Kalyn Oyer of Charleston Scene. The pair interviewed Dylan and were impressed by his on-air performance, and charmed by his sense of humor. If you’re interested, that episode of The Fringe is still live, Episode 81, and you can listen here.

After that Fringe episode, DJ and Dylan kept in touch, and when Dylan’s album came down the pipeline it found a home at Real South Records.

“Throughout this album I gave myself the freedom to write songs that I felt in the moment during certain points in my life,” Dylan says. “My first EPs followed more of a concept, but this is much more me – that’s why it’s self titled! I am very proud of the work that I have done and I hope that others will be able to connect with at least one song, if not the whole album.”
