Extra Chill Fest 2019 Day 1 Artist: Dead Swells

Dead Swells are a five piece pop rock band from Columbia, SC. They create danceable tunes drenched in synth-soaked vibes, and we couldn’t be happier to have them kick off Day 1 of this year’s Extra Chill Fest on Friday, November 8th, 2019.

Dead Swells have steadily built a following in the southeast ever since their formation in 2016. Their self-titled debut EP dropped in 2017, and offers a taste of how Dead Swells fuse modern indie-pop elements into classic funk grooves that keep everyone moving to the beat. They’ve played shows with names like Moon Taxi, Brave Baby, Human Resources, and Rare Creatures, and were featured on the Scene SC Sampler in both 2018 and 2019. This is all despite the fact that they’ve yet to release a full-length album.

The live performance from Dead Swells is tight enough to withstand the tide that seems to rise any time they play. From the time they get on stage until the moment they put their instruments down, the crowd at a Dead Swells show is constantly bobbing on the never-ending waves of sound. The combination of tasteful arrangements, silky smooth vocals, and just plain beautiful band members is guaranteed to captivate your mind, soul, and body.
