Ivory Keys – “Flotation Device” (ft. Semkari)

This past Friday, Charleston rapper Ivory Keys released a new single called “Flotation Device”, a collaboration with fellow Charleston rapper Semkari. “Flotation Device” is a short one, coming in just under two minutes, with trippy, ambient production by Stephan Looney of Current Blue. The rappers have time for just one verse each, and no hook, so they each offer their own interpretation of the atmospheric beat. Ivory Keys hits first with a slow, free-flowing verse, and Semkari comes in second with more speed and wordplay. It’s another example of collaboration in Charleston’s DIY hip-hop scene, and here at Extra Chill, we think hip-hop collabs should happen as often as possible.
