Yesterday, Charleston swoon rock band Cry Baby released a new live session featuring their single “Can’t Wait”, which first appeared on the 2019 Scene SC Sampler. The video was filmed and engineered by Preston Dunnavant (who is also working with Daddy’s Beemer on their new record) on the shores of Lake Hartwell in the upstate of South Carolina.
Preston did a great job capturing the essence of Cry Baby, which is goofy and fun, yet at the same time musically tight, and Jamie Gray’s unique vocals tie the whole thing together. I can’t say enough good things about Cry Baby, and if you haven’t experienced them live yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for.
Luckily for the Charleston folks reading this, Cry Baby has a show coming up at The Royal American on Friday, July 19th, where they’ll join Atlanta’s The Head and fellow Charleston up-and-comers Baby Yaga. Cover is $10, doors at 9pm.
