Shovels & Rope Announce New Album, Release “The Wire”

This morning, Charleston Americana duo Shovels & Rope announced a new full-length studio album, By Blood, due out on April 12th (the day before High Water Fest 2019). With this announcement also came the release of the album’s lead single, “The Wire”. By Blood will be the first new release of original material since Little Seeds was released in 2016. They did, however, release Busted Jukebox Volume 2 in 2017, which is a compilation of classic covers featuring different musicians on each track.

2019 is shaping up to be a busy year for Shovels & Rope. In addition to curating and playing at High Water Fest in North Charleston, they’ll also be touring through the summer in support of Tedeschi Trucks Band and stopping through Manchester, TN for a slot at Bonnaroo. Most importantly, however, is that Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent of Shovels & Rope have a baby on the way that will be born later this year.

By Blood is available for pre-order now at shovelsandrope.com. Tickets to High Water Fest are here. Listen to “The Wire” below.
