Tomatofest to Feature Local Tomato Growers, Salsa and Guac Contest, and Oh! Live Music

This Saturday, April 7th, The Purple Buffalo and tomatoband are joining forces for a celebration of National Fresh Tomato Day. The actual date of National Fresh Tomato Day is April 6th, but that won’t stop tomatoband from honoring their namesake one day later, as they do every other day of the year.

Tomatofest will feature musical performances from Finnegan Bell, Logan and the Kidders (Kidd Aggie), Fusion Jonez, and of course tomatoband. There will be a special outdoor stage and bar set up for this event, and live painters to capture the vibes in a more concrete medium.

Also present at Tomatofest will be local tomato growers who will be selling plants to help patrons start their own tomato gardens, and representatives from the College of Charleston Office of Sustainability to offer their expert advice on managing your environmental footprint.

One final reason to love Tomatofest is the salsa and guacamole contest. Several DIY chefs will be submitting their homemade salsa and/or guacamole to be judged by a panel of “expert” taste testers. Prizes for the winners are provided by sponsors The Purple Buffalo, Chico Feo, and the Taco Spot. To submit your salsa/guac in the contest, send a email to [email protected].

Full schedule of live music is below. Vendors will be present from 2pm to midnight. Tickets are $5 at the door.
