Dylan Swinson Releases New EP ‘Prove Em Wrong Kid’

Dylan Swinson is a local singer-songwriter who just released his new EP Prove Em Wrong Kid. Dylan grew up in Summerville and started playing guitar at the young age of 10. His father served in the Air Force and that prompted the family’s 2005 move to Delaware when Dylan attended high school and started writing lyrics. By his junior year he was recording demos, and upon graduating in 2011 he came back to Charleston to pursue an education at The Art Institute of Charleston.

Dylan released his debut EP Freedom & Solitude in 2015, a mostly acoustic record that took influence from early 2000s pop-punk bands. Prove Em Wrong Kid serves as an electric follow-up to his debut, with a welcome improvement in production and recording quality, as well as a maturation in his lyrical ability. If you’re into bands like All Time Low and Mayday Parade, you’ll dig Dylan’s sophomore effort Prove Em Wrong Kid.

In celebration of the EP’s release, Dylan will play a show on Saturday, May 26th at The Sparrow in North Charleston. It’s a free show, and doors open at 8pm. He will be joined by local bands Go Jenny Go and King Tide, and copies of the EP will be available for purchase at the show, as well as Shem Creek Music, The Vinyl Countdown, Monster Music and Movies, and Coastal Coffee Roasters.
