The Phall Grand Ball – Runaway Gin and Holly Bowling at Charleston Music Hall On Friday, September 9th

For the Grateful Dead and Phish fans out there, we’ve got an awesome event coming up this weekend at the Charleston Music Hall. The Phall Grand Ball is an acoustic and electric tribute to two of the most legendary and beloved bands of all time, performed by some very talented artists who also happen to be huge fans. Don’t miss Holly Bowling and Runaway Gin playing some epic jams at the Music Hall on Friday, September 9th. Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18.50 day of show.

Holly Bowling

After attending more than 300 Phish shows, Holly found herself especially drawn to the 37-minute rendition of “Tweezer” from the Phish show at Lake Tahoe on July 31st, 2013, and decided to create a piano version of the jam. From there she created piano versions of many more Phish songs, and most recently she recorded Better Left Unsung, a collection of Grateful Dead songs arranged for solo piano. She’ll be joining the dudes in Runaway Gin for a night of piano-driven Phish and Grateful Dead songs at the Charleston Music Hall.

Runaway Gin

Runaway Gin is Charleston’s very own tribute to Phish. They’ve played over 200 shows and strive to recreate Phish’s signature “type-2” jamming and perform flawless renditions of the composed portions of Phish songs. You may have seen them at The Pour House, as they perform there almost every Sunday, but this weekend they’re playing downtown at the Charleston Music Hall for three full hours, a two set super jam, and you should join the party.
